A few weeks ago I ventured up to the National College of Natural Medicine with our Domestic Farms Rep, Anna, for the sixth annual Portland Plant Medicine Gathering. What a lovely event! This was my second year attending PPMG, so I knew I could expect a fantastic time. We kicked it off Friday evening with a fun and inspiring keynote from the one and only Robin Rose Bennett. She had us sing while she drummed on a djembe, and we honored the four directions. She then flowed right into an uplifting discourse about herbalism and its importance as a healing modality. We both came away from the keynote feeling uplifted and inspired. If you ever get a chance to hear Robin speak, I highly recommend it! Saturday morning began with the bustling Plant Medicine Marketplace. It’s always fun to chat with fellow plant people and meet with our incredibly […]

It took four flights and almost 3,000 miles, but the adventure was well worth it when I walked up the path beneath a canopy of fall-colored trees in Black Mountain, North Carolina for the 10th annual Southeast Wise Women Herbal Conference. I was eager to get checked in, pick up my updated program booklet, and plot my classes for the next few days—not to mention, get a lay of the land and find all the booths, vendors, and activities! This was our first venture to this growing conference, so we’ve been super excited to experience it! As a sponsor, Mountain Rose has been looking forward to sharing in this wonderfully diverse community of women herbalists on the East Coast. I was determined to try to cover as much ground as possible during the gathering, by attending classes and activities, sampling the freshly-prepared meals, visiting the vendor booths, and chatting with folks at our […]
We recently spent a delightful fall day exploring stands of mushrooms: fresh, dried, powdered, tea, and even kits! The Mushroom Festival at Mt. Pisgah Arboretum is always something we look forward to, a mark of fall in motion and a winter to come. Hundreds of species on tables with dozens of experts on hand. We sponsored the event again this year serving our delicious Firefly Chai tea infused with Reishi Mushrooms! We also talked about some of the other dried mushrooms we offer: Shittake, Reishi and these beautiful Maitake! View our photo album on Facebook! For more mushroom learning: Medicinal Mushrooms
We’ll be spending this Sunday at one of our favorite local events…the Mount Pisgah Mushroom Festival! Every year, we look forward to sponsoring and attending this event and celebrating all things fungi. Since we also love serving up free tea to all the attendees, our Events Coordinator, Mason, has come up with this delectable Reishi Chai tea recipe and we will be offering it by the cupful. It is absolutely perfect for a cool fall day, and full of spicy herbs and yummy mushroom goodness… Mason’s Reishi Chai Tea First, decoct the reishi by adding 4 slices of dried reishi to a saucepan and add 4 cups of water. Bring this to a boil and then simmer for 1-2 hours (the longer the better.) You can do this the day or evening before or right before you make your tea. Strain out the reishi. If you make the reishi decoction in […]
Alieta braved the rain today to warm folks up with mulled cider! She sampled out 200 cups of hot spiced organic apple cider along with recipe cards, and free bags of mulling spice made with organic herbs at the Kiva Grocery in downtown Eugene. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to chat! Want our Mulling Spice recipe? You can find it here!
We had so much fun at the Mother Earth News Fair last weekend! It was wonderful to connect with our Pennsylvania customers and to meet some new faces! Hannah Kincaid, Assistant Editor at Mother Earth News, captured this sweet moment at our booth when Mason and Kori had a heartwarming chat about the fancy dress this little festival goer was wearing. She was so proud that her mom made it just for her! We will have more photos from the event to share soon!
We had such a blast at the Free Herbalism Project! Here are two of our awesome customer service reps turned tea goddesses for the day. Miriam and Halsey brewed and served free tea for us during the gathering. Check out the Free Herbalism Project photo album here!

Two weekends ago we ventured up to the 2014 Bite of Oregon, our first time at this food event! We sampled out and sold our Organic Hibiscus High Tea, Organic Mint Chocolate Mate, some of our culinary salts and organic peppercorns. Pictured above is Leslie, our Store Accounts Manager, staying cool behind a pyramid of our favorite tea mugs. It was a hot weekend, but we had a good time meeting new folks, checking out all of the delicious food, and dancing to live music!
Jennifer Gerrity, our Executive Director of Operations, returned a few weeks ago from the Ginseng Summit hosted by the United Plant Savers with these gorgeous sustainably grown ginseng roots to share, as well as inspirations for supporting and protecting this important wild medicinal well into the future.
