We were filled with joy to support the annual Women’s Healing Conference. This year, we donated herbal goodies to the Pampering Oasis where attendees enjoyed showers of floral goodness with our organic hydrosols. The Women’s Healing Conference is a three day herb retreat held in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains, combining celebration and healing!
Two weeks ago we traveled to the Mother Earth News Fair in Puyallup, Washington. Erin, our Marketing Director, shot this lovely photo of Kori, Mason, and Stephanie having a great time at the booth! Thanks to all of you who shared some time with us in the booth or at one of Erin’s classes. You made our time there such a blast! We are truly grateful for being a part of this wonderful event and can’t wait to see you all at the next one in Seven Springs, PA! View our photo album from this year’s fair on Facebook!

Mason is our Events and Outreach Coordinator here at Mountain Rose! Eugene born and raised, Mason found an early interest in nutrition which eventually brought him to the world of herbalism. When not busy planning events and traveling around the country, Mason studies herbalism and wildcrafting at the Columbines School of Botanical Studies and volunteers at Occupy Medical. He’s also papa to a sweet baby daughter and enjoys sharing many plant adventures with her. I’m back from a most excellent herbalism filled event! A few weeks ago, I headed up to Portland for NCNM’s inaugural Traditional Roots Conference. The weekend proved to be a unique one indeed, combining classes from both Naturopathic Doctors and herbalists on topics ranging from herbal energetics, to ethical wildcrafting, and medicine making. To kick things off, I had the pleasure of attending Dr. Tori Hudson’s class, Women’s Health Past and Present. With 30 years of experience as […]
We had so much fun at the Wildflower Festival on Sunday! Pictured above from left to right is Alieta (Marketing), Jenny (Customer Service), and Alyssa (Sustainability Director) having a fantastic time in-between shifts at Mount Pisgah. As Oregon weather will do, the day brought extremes from hail to rainbows, and we were delighted to share shelter, warm organic tea, and laughs with our local friends and new folks alike. Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by our tent! You can view our photo album from the event on Facebook!
We have been enthusiastically awaiting the day when this would be ready, and by the good hands of our creative team, we are happy to introduce you to our Dandelion Standee! We couldn’t think of a better herb to be than our favorite wonder weed, the Dandelion! This Dandelion Standee will be traveling around with us both this weekend to the Wildflower Festival in Eugene, Oregon and also to the Mother Earth News Fair in Puyallup, Washington. Alieta and Mason, from Marketing, weren’t exactly hesitant to be among the first faces in our standee! You all are invited to become Dandelions too! If you see us out and about, don’t be shy! Come on over and take a photo and use #WonderWeed on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook so we can all enjoy the smiling wonder weeds!
We had the most amazing time at our most recent Free Herbalism Project event. Kathi Keville, world-renowned herbalist and aromatherapist, jumped at the opportunity to arrive at Mt. Pisgah Arboretum hours before her presentation so she could enjoy the much-anticipated herb walk with Howie Brounstein and Steven Yeager. We captured Kathi enjoying our native Camas on a sunny break during a beautiful Oregon day! You can view our collection of photos from the event on our Facebook page.
Ta da! We mixed up our favorite organic culinary oil, seasoning blend, and salt combos for sampling at the 24th annual Chefs’ Night Out — a fundraiser for our local food pantry, Food for Lane County. Kori and Mason had so much fun chatting, answering questions, and sharing in the culinary festivities with the 1100 guests who attended. We felt great knowing that we were playing a part in raising more than $75,000 to provide 225,000 meals for our neighbors in need! We shared savory tastes from our Epicurean Organics line of gourmet seasoning blends, artisan salts, whole peppercorns, and fine culinary oils! Our Epicurean Organics line is certified organic and we donate 2% of every Epicurean Organics sale to the Organic Consumers Association. You can view our fun album from the event on Facebook!

We’re back from the amazing Florida Herbal Conference! While we were down south, Steven and I had the chance to explore some of Florida’s native plants and found this beautiful Saw Palmetto in bud. A powerful plant with razor sharp spines and such delicate, lacy inflorescences. Want to see more photos from our trip? Check out our Facebook album!
While we love working with our international farms, growing herb plants closer to home here in North America is also good for the quality of our herbs and spices. It is definitely good for North American farmers, benefits the environment (by using less fossil fuels to transport herbs), and creates and sustains jobs here at home. In Europe, herbal plant horticulture has been a large and encouraged part of the agricultural traditions for millennia. European “Farm Bills,” agricultural colleges, and extension services support the production and management of European traditional herbal medicines. Historically, we do not have that same support in North America. Our agriculture has been geared towards increasing the size of farms and decreasing the variety of plants to encourage giant monocultures of staple grains and beans. Even though there has been an increase in farmers who are interested in growing medicinal plants since the 1970s, there is […]
Last week, three of our favorite employees traveled to Germany for the annual BIOFACH–the world’s largest Trade Fair for Organic Food. Here they are in front of the Exhibit Centre Nuremberg where they were busy meeting new folks and reconnecting with current and potential organic vendors. What an exceptional opportunity to see what new products are coming into the organic market! Here’s our team from left to right: Elvira (International Farm Manager), Jennifer (Director of Operations) and Meghan (China and India Buyer). At Mountain Rose, we are proud to support Organic Agriculture throughout the world.
