The leaves have fallen quickly and autumn has turned into winter for many. As the cold fronts move in across the country, don’t forget to stay cozy with a warm cup of tea! Here are a few of our favorite teas for sipping on these short and cold days: Classic Chai 21st Century 5th Chakra Tea The Blues Tea Tulsi Delight Mint Chocolate Mate You can find the mug and celestial strainer on our website too. Happy tea drinking!
We recently spent a delightful fall day exploring stands of mushrooms: fresh, dried, powdered, tea, and even kits! The Mushroom Festival at Mt. Pisgah Arboretum is always something we look forward to, a mark of fall in motion and a winter to come. Hundreds of species on tables with dozens of experts on hand. We sponsored the event again this year serving our delicious Firefly Chai tea infused with Reishi Mushrooms! We also talked about some of the other dried mushrooms we offer: Shittake, Reishi and these beautiful Maitake! View our photo album on Facebook! For more mushroom learning: Medicinal Mushrooms
Top: Alieta and Miriam helping Thomas fill in the design. Bottom: The finished wall! Wow! We are in the process of remodeling our Local Pick-Up Parlor with this beautiful chalkboard wall! We were so happy to finish it up yesterday evening after a week of multi-step application! There are still some more elements to finish up in the parlor redesign, but this was one very large detail that we were super excited to complete! Live in Eugene? Alieta braved the rain today to warm folks up with mulled cider! She sampled out 200 cups of hot spiced organic apple cider along with recipe cards, and free bags of mulling spice made with organic herbs at the Kiva Grocery in downtown Eugene. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to chat! Want our Mulling Spice recipe? You can find it here!
Mountain Rose Herbs is a proud supporter of Oregon Wild, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and restoring Oregon’s beautiful wildlands. This past Sunday, a few of our staff and family members went on a guided tour of the Lawler Trail on Patterson Mountain. We hiked through a mix of old growth and young conifer ecosystems within National Forest land. Chandra, Oregon Wild’s Western Oregon Field Coordinator, lead the walk, identifying plants and fungi along the way. Learn more about Oregon Wild and their inspirational guided hikes!
Meet the man who keeps us safe! Rick is our Safety Manager, and he’s full of knowledge regarding prevention and preparedness! A few weeks ago, Rick, along with a handful of other staff, spent a majority of their day with the folks from Isler picking up trash and beautifying our section of the Amazon bike path. Isler, a certified public accounting and business advising company located here in Eugene, is recognized for its community service and sustainability efforts. While we work with some of their CPAs in the office, we couldn’t have been more thrilled to share this sunny day outside with some of their staff!
This week was so much fun! We got to have a tea party photo shoot with one of our favorite little herbalists. Big thanks to Amelia (and her dad Mason) for sipping some organic Hibiscus High with us. More cuteness from this shoot coming soon…
As much as we love the sunshine and long days of summertime, we are feeling so relieved by our first rain and the fall fruit around us, like the Rosehips pictured above. While the plants begin to brown and leaves begin to fall, we ponder recipes and projects for the future months spent indoors. What are you planning to make this fall?
We had so much fun at the Mother Earth News Fair last weekend! It was wonderful to connect with our Pennsylvania customers and to meet some new faces! Hannah Kincaid, Assistant Editor at Mother Earth News, captured this sweet moment at our booth when Mason and Kori had a heartwarming chat about the fancy dress this little festival goer was wearing. She was so proud that her mom made it just for her! We will have more photos from the event to share soon!
We had such a blast at the Free Herbalism Project! Here are two of our awesome customer service reps turned tea goddesses for the day. Miriam and Halsey brewed and served free tea for us during the gathering. Check out the Free Herbalism Project photo album here!
Sneak peek! We are so excited to announce that our new Fall/Winter catalogue will be in the mail very soon! Often for us, the final step of catalogue production is capturing the perfect cover photo. Here’s a particularly fun moment we caught of our Product Manager and Certified Aromatherapist, Christine, sipping tea while lighting the shoot. Her joy in this photo is just so spirited that we had to share. Must be the magic of Peace Tea! The final cover will be revealed next week, but you can order a copy to enjoy by clicking here!
Two weekends ago we ventured up to the 2014 Bite of Oregon, our first time at this food event! We sampled out and sold our Organic Hibiscus High Tea, Organic Mint Chocolate Mate, some of our culinary salts and organic peppercorns. Pictured above is Leslie, our Store Accounts Manager, staying cool behind a pyramid of our favorite tea mugs. It was a hot weekend, but we had a good time meeting new folks, checking out all of the delicious food, and dancing to live music!
