I’m not very fancy. Not known for my culinary skills. Known more for my lack of them. However, I have purchased each of the types of different salts that you carry. And I put a different type in the grinder each time I refill it so that we get a variety of flavors and a variety of different nutrients that each has to offer. So mostly I have used the salts as everyday table salt. I love the colors and the subtly different flavors AND the idea that each provides different nutrients.

I am also working on replacing my spices with only those that you offer. I save the empty shaker/container and refill with MRH products.

    I love you guys!

  60. avatar medddd says:

I would first start with a salad and the dressing made with the pumpkinseed oil, peppercorns and sea salt (maybe the seasoning salt, too!). 131. Untested recipe but very similar to another I have tried:

Gluten-free Pumpkin Pie with Vanilla & Macadamia/Pumpkin nutty crust:

    Pie Crust recipe

1 1/4 cup organic nut & seed seed meal (in a coffee grinder grind a mixture of your favorite nuts and seeds such as almonds, pecans, macadamia nuts, flax seeds, pumpkin seeds & sesame seeds)
1/4 cup Organic macadamia nut oil from Mountain Rose Herbs
2 tbs of Organic pumpkin seed oil from Mountain Rose Herbs
1/4 cup organic cream (use thick almond milk or coconut milk for dairy-free)
    1 cup shaved coconut meat

Mix the meal and 1 cup of shaved coconut with 2 tbs of pumpkin seed oil. Add the almond milk.

Pour the remainder of the oil in the bottom of a 9″ pie pan. on top of the oil spread 1 cup of coconut meat. On top of the coconut meat pour out the pie crust made of the meal.
Pat the pie crust around the pie pan press in firmly. Mix thoroughly so the spices are stirred throughout.

    The Pie Filling

2 cups fresh organic pumpkin puree or 1 – 15 ounce can organic pumpkin
3 tsp of Mountain Rose Organic Pumpkin Pie Spice
    3 free-range organic eggs
    1/4 cup raw organic honey
1/2 cup organic whipping cream (use thick almond milk or coconut milk for dairy-free)

Mix all ingredients together. Then pour into the pie crust. Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees F for about an hour. The pie should be firm when a fork is inserted into the center.

Cool the pie and serve with organic vanilla cream topping:

    Topping
1/4 cup of organic Coconut Milk or whipped organic cream mixed with 1 tbs raw organic melted honey and the seeds from one fresh organic vanilla bean from Mountain Rose Herbs.

    Wow! Where do I start??!
    lol.
I actually have a few ORGANIC-VEGAN pies and a few main courses in mind that I plan on making when I visit home Philadelphia,Pa in a few days. All made from scratch- Graham Cracker crust pumpkin pie, with fresh pumpkin and hopefully some spices from Mtn Rose. (; ..coconut Mana, hemp protein, pumpkin seed oil and maybe even some fresh lavender,oh and of course Vanilla bean!
Banana bread with vanilla bean, macadamia oil(lightly glazed), walnuts, choc chips, cranraisins, and a bit of Pumpkin spice of course, topped with a few sprigs of Rosemary.
Main dishes, Veggie Chili with Tofu and Seitan with some chili spice and Green Peppercorns, Red Alaea Salt,a bit of seasoning salt, Black beans, kidney beans, chick peas, green peppers, tomatoes, okra, ginger.. etc. MMMmmmmmm!!!
Indian inspired dish with extra firm tofu, brown jasmine rice, green split mung dal, BLACK PEPERCORNS, SEASONED SALT, and a host of other spices i’ve ordered from Mtn rose- Cumin, Turmeric, Coriander, bay leaves etc.
Probably use a bit of Pumpkin seed oil as well.

This would be great due to the fact that I am visiting home and getting my family to eat the most healthy food they’ve ever had.lol

Each year at Solstice, I bake the Christmas cookies that my maternal Grandma would bake for us, when she was alive. There are ‘eggnog’-flavored sugar cutouts, gingerbread people, and date-nut pinwheels, to name a few. (All of the sweet spices above go in one or another.) I then wrap up a batch to send to my parents and each of my nine siblings and their families.

Ah, and the red salt reminds me of when we lived on Maui. Mahalo!

Fall and the holidays are a great time for spices, but I use Pumpkin Pie Spice all year around in scones, banana nut bread, roasted vegetables, and even smoothies. I’ve never used Pumpkin Seed Oil but the first thing I’d enjoy it on would be roasted yams: Slice yams about 1/2″ thick lengthwise. I’ll lightly coat them with pumpkin seed oil, lay them on a cookie sheet covered with parchment paper, and sprinkle with sea salt, coarse ground malabar black pepper, top with some pumpkin pie spice and roast in a hot oven. While the yams are roasting I’ll whip up some chipotle sauce with kefir yogurt cheese, and a few chopped green onions for a dip. Yum!

Vanilla beans scream ‘creme brulee’ to me, and the oils combined with the spices, for starters would make some very unique vinegrettes for salad, or marinades for meat (like the pumpkin pie spice and pumpkin oil mixed with white wine vinegar served over slightly steamed crookneck squash and zucchini, or walnut oil with the salt and pepper over lamb)

Irene, what a lovely and generous idea to have Holiday Giveaways. If this particular month was November I would make a raw pumpkin pudding and pumpkin bars using the vanilla beans, pumpkin spice, pumpkin and macadamian oils.

Since it is December would devise a nice spicy warming drink with the pumpkin spice, the pepercorns, vanialla beans and I’d add nutmeg and ginger to fresh coconut cream and fresh coconut milk and or fresh almond milk.

    Happy Holidays to everyone.

These have my juices absolutely flowing!
Let’s see… I’m thinking tuna steak seasoned *only* with green peppercorns and red alaea salt, pan-seared for a gorgeous red interior. To compliment that: a salad made from seasoned (with MRH Seasoning Salt) cremini mushrooms sauteéd in macadamia nut oil, tossed with red onions into baby spinach and drizzled with a pumpkin seed oil and apple cider vinaigrette!
For dessert I think the only thing to compliment this spectacular meal would be a simple vanilla-pumpkin crème brûlée!
    Nom.Nom.Nom. Hungry?

We make vanilla bean ice cream w/coconut milk, and my dark chocolate bacon sea salt treats would be amped up a bit w/your red alaea salt! Of course crust-less pumpkin pie is a holiday standard around here!

Yay for Mountain Rose Herbs! We love your products, and we use the Epicurean bottled organic Hemp Seed oil as the dressing for our salads. Yummo! We love the nutty flavor and let our students know it’s rich oil high in essential omega fatty acids and proteins. Blessed Yule!!!

I signed up for the blog. I am really excited about the items in Week 2 GiveAway. I love pepper and use it so much in all of my dishes. The seasoning would also be great for a rub. The Red Algae, Macadamia Nut oil, Pumpkin Seed Oil would be great for the homemade bath products I am making for myself and others as gifts this year. The vanilla has endless uses, cooking :) and also to make my own extract from the useful articles I have found on your website as well as HerbMentor.com. Thanks!

I could write a long list of goodies I’d love to create using all of these wonderful ingredients. If I had to choose one recipe though, I would use the pumpkin pie spice and pumpkin seed oil in baking a cranberry-raisin bread pudding stuffed pie pumpkin. (also roasting the seeds of course..) Yum!
